Locke Lord has broad and deep experience throughout the entire liquefied natural gas value chain. We have a particular focus on LNG projects in the United States. The following is a brief summary of the types of LNG transactions in which our lawyers have been engaged:
- Represented El Paso Corporation in the reactivation of the Elba Island receiving terminal and in the negotiation of three long-term LNG sale and purchase agreements for delivery to Elba Island.
- Represented El Paso Corporation as a shipper in reactivation of the Cove Point receiving terminal and in the negotiation of a long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement for delivery to Cove Point.
- Represented Excelerate Energy in the purchase of El Paso Corporation’s Energy Bridge offshore terminal business.
- Represented Excelerate Energy in the long-term time charter of an LNG regasification vessel.
- Represented Excelerate Energy in the development of the Gulf Gateway offshore receiving terminal in the Gulf of Mexico.
- Represented Access Northeast Energy in the development of a terminal services agreement for the proposed Bearhead receiving terminal in Nova Scotia.
- Represented Mitsubishi Corporation in the negotiation of a terminal services agreement for the Freeport LNG receiving terminal.
- Represented Merrill Lynch Commodities, Inc. in the negotiation of a terminal services agreement for the Cameron LNG receiving terminal.
- Represented Southern Union in all regulatory aspects related to the expansion of the Lake Charles receiving terminal.
- Represented a U.S. energy company in the proposed acquisition of four LNG tanker time charters.
- Represented a state-owned energy company in the proposed acquisition of an interest in a liquefaction project in Egypt.
- Represented Philadelphia Gas Works in the proposed development of the Freedom Energy Center receiving terminal.
- Represented a project sponsor in the proposed development of a receiving terminal in Baja California.
- Represented Sempra Energy in the negotiation of LNG supply agreements for delivery to Sempra’s receiving terminal under development in Baja California.
- Represented the developer of a proposed LNG terminal to be constructed on the Gulf Coast.
- Represented several buyers and seller in the negotiation of master spot LNG trading agreements and in the negotiation of specific short-term transactions under those trading agreements.
